A Woman To Me Is
(Winning entry)
A woman to me is
GOD, as I first open my mind’s eye,
A woman to me is
A bean bag, of warmth, a tweety pie
A woman to me is
A diary, of patience, whose pages never end
A woman to me is
A smile, in this world that seems hostile
A woman to me is
A flower, that blooms despite all trouble
A woman to me is
A poem, amidst life’s soulless essays
A woman to me is
A bubble of hope, in this sea of injustice
A woman to me is
An oasis, of true love, in this vast deserted land
A woman to me is
A reservoir, of water, depleting so soon
A woman to me is
An expression, in this callous society
A woman to me is
A star, who guides the lost explorer
A woman to me is
An angel, who inspires me back to living
A woman to me is
An assurance, that yes, I can be born
A woman to me is
An identity, of me – an individual self
A woman to me is
A mind, that thinks beyond gender
A woman to me is
A judge, of her own, and the future too
A woman to me is
A promise, of humanity being restored soon
A woman to me is
A mirror, where I see the world’s future
A woman to me is
A complete human being, silently steering - Herself, Her family and the World
Proud to be a woman!

The Weeping Buddha!
(PUBLISHED IN "HEART THROBS", A COLLECTION OF 80 POEMS, PENNED BY 43 EMINENT POETS OF INDIA)
He stands for peace
For non–violence,
He stands for humanity!
Amidst the waters in the lake,
He stands, a statue so bold!
I look at him, in disdain
My eyes reflect guilt…
It flows across the waters
To touch the Buddha’s feet;
And recedes back rippling
With sadness and remorse…
The evil spurred destruction
The demons ripped souls apart,
Bodies piled in pools of blood
Yes, bombs possess no heart…
Waves of aggression and despair
Hit my unsteady mind
Terror terrorized the city
Yet, why didn't Buddha mind?
Uproar! tumult of violence!
Enrage my rebellious heart!
A statue with a fixed smile
Takes in all the pain,
How I wish I could emulate him,
Yet the human in me refrains!
Amidst the shrieks and wail
I stared at the classic stone
I looked at him in despair
As the waves rose and flared!
Moving the stone to tears,
I gazed at his moist eyes
The terrorists are inhuman,
The facts are very well known
So much was the ghastly wile
That even Buddha did not smile…
(The voice of a terror struck Human Being)

The Holy, Holi Book
Life unveils
Chapter by chapter
Today is the chapter of love
The music plays
The rain just pours
I romance empty pages
Drops of love
They touch my head
Drops of love
Slide off my shoulders
Drops of love
Drench me
And I become a drop of love!
Colours of holi
On my cheeks
Colours of holi
Souse me
Colours of holi
Soak me
And I merge, to emerge
A rainbow!
The drops of love
The holy colours
I am the drop
I am the colour
I fuse and diffuse…
Every time something new
I live every moment
And die the very next second
Only to be reborn!
I live different lives
I celebrate existence
I celebrate truth
I celebrate love
Unbounded,
Subtle yet simple
A feeling unparalleled
I give, I take
I share, I care
Love…
